That being said, if you are O+ (like me!) you should not need Rhogam. Safe for new infants: The red blood cells in O negative blood are safest for transfusion to new infants with an under-developed immune system. O Negative blood has reduced risks of certain. O Negative blood is in high demand for blood donation and plays a crucial role in maintaining an adequate blood supply. O negative blood group is a type of blood group that does not have any of the major blood group antigens (A, B, or Rh). Since both of those types are fairly rare, the Red Cross works hard to. B negative patients can only receive blood from other B negative donors or from type O negative donors (who are the universal donors). B negative red blood cells can be given to both B and AB patients. O Negative blood can be safely transfused to individuals with any blood type, making it highly compatible. Less than 2 of the population have B negative blood. O blood type individuals live the longest of all other blood types. O Negative blood is the universal donor, compatible with all blood types. these can form tons of micro clots which can get stuck in the small blood vessels of your body and be life threatening. Strong immune system: People with blood group O negative have a strong immune system and are thinnest of all other blood types. If you were RH negative, and the baby rH positive, and your blood came into contact with babies, your blood would not be able to tolerate the "foreign" positive antibodies from the baby, which would cause your blood to "agglutinate", or create these sticky clumps around them to seal them off and protect your body from them. if you are RH positive, your body will be able to tolerate exposure to both positive and negative blood, as it too has the antibodies and won't reject them in the positive blood, and the negative blood won't contain any to clash with them. when you are RH positive (regardless of ABO) your blood cells contain certain antibodies, where RH negative types do not.
